In this sequel to "Grapeshot and Demons", Captain Rodney Wyckham, Royal Navy, has built a trading center on the planet he's renamed Freeport. Alien merchants from distant systems come to his walled city, Port Wyckham, looking for trading opportunities in newly accessible worlds, and alien tourists flock to the various taverns that have made the town an intergalactic Las Vegas. But peaceful commerce and tourism is threatened by his old nemesis, Admiral Jarvis, who shows up with a French fleet aligned with the monstrous Draesh, the planet's previous owners. With help from the local human natives and their deadly effective fireballs, Wyckham emerges victorious, only to be attacked again by a British fleet demanding colonization rights for the British Empire. But the massive fleet, led by none other than the Duke of Wellington, the conqueror of Napoleon, is unprepared for battling Wyckham's alien allies, and the planet survives as an independent oasis of peace and free trade for aliens and humans alike.
As in the first book, there's historically authentic action aplenty, tavern scenes reminiscent of the bar scene in Star Wars, many new and comical alien species, and wild amorous interactions with the holographic Fireflies. Just like the first book, this is one crazy, exciting, insanely creative story that will leave intrigued readers shaking their heads at what they've just read and looking for more.

New enemies and some new allies are also in this great Si-Fi adventure...but don’t fear some of you favorite (lovely ladies) characters from the first book are back. Just when you thought things couldn't get any crazier for Wyckham and his crew, it does. If you liked the first one then this book is for you. It takes all the battles, boobs, booze, and blunders and amplifies it to a new level.
If you enjoyed grapeshot and demons, then this book is for you! With Wyckham and his men enjoying the fame of defeating the dreaded Draesh there is always trouble brewing somewhere in this wild world they now call home. The vivid imagery and fast paced story line that not only keeps the crew on their toes but also will keep you on the edge of your seat. Page after page there is new bizarre creatures, fierce battles with newly discovered weapons to help Wyckham and his crew defeat new enemies and some old foes as well.
Make sure you've blocked out several hours before you start reading "White Hot Grape,"
because it's a tough book to put down. Immensely entertaining, this page-turner
continues the imaginative and amusing adventures of Scully's previous "Grapeshot
and Demons", which I'd also highly recommend (and that it be read first). I guarantee
you've never read a story like this. Also, avoid reading it in bed while your mate is
asleep because your guffaws will awake him or her.
